Three cheers to Steve Sidewalk, Lxs Eventos and Antonio

With the thought of hiding eggs for my nieces and nephews on Easter Morning and a non-stop chain of relatives calling from dawn until noon reminding me about where I have to be and when I was thankful to be able to anticipate a late night of craziness with Antonio Cedeno and he delivered .
Allow me to back track. It seems I am the only one in my family that can hid Easter eggs and remember where I hid them. My mother, God rests her soul, would hide the eggs in the back yard so well and then forget where she hid them. We wouldn’t find them until the fall when the flowers died and we were raking leaves. We have cousins and their kids that come over, and neighbors join in. I hide about 160 eggs. The kids carry their baskets and collect as many as they can. I think it is the one tradition that didn’t change when my parents passed away. The kids, and adults look forward to it and we play it up for the kids. Of course you have to go to mass and have a big Easter breakfast before the egg hunt. Being in charge of hiding the eggs is like being in charge of someone’s kidney during a transplant. Everyone needs to know where I am at all times until the eggs are hidden. I left my cell phone in the car and escaped to Feathers. I was overcome with the decorations that adorned the whole downstairs. There were red ribbons to remind everyone why they were there.
Saturday was the last night of a three night fundraiser to benefit NJCR, an organization that helps people with HIV/ AIDS..
Steve Sidewalk hosted the first night on Wednesday and in true “Sidewalk” tradition he packed the place with over 600 people and raised over $1,500.00. He gave away tickets to Lady Ga-Ga . People are still posting about the fun they had at Steve’s fundraiser. Thursday found Lxs Eventos hosting Latin Night benefit continuing the benefit raising over $800.00! Applause to Lady Tita, John Martin, and the terrific staff!!! Amazing how even in the most depressing of times these promoters are able to do so much to benefit others! HATS OFF TO YOU GUYS!
So there I was in the middle of cheap drinks, LA FITNESS Gym Membership give-a ways, condoms and hot guys! What more do you need in life? GREAT entertainment and that was also provided! I do not know Antonio Cedeno pulls these things off, but he actually had Gioia Bruno from Expose http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=518751959&sk=info
She tore up the dance floor performing old and new songs! What A FREAKING GREAT PERFORMER! Cheering her on was Alexa Prisco from Jerseylicious ! She was so sweet and had conversations with everyone ! These ladies made the party memorable for everyone! Gioia surprised everyone and had a meet and greet downstairs! The night just kept getting better. As I got a HOT and much needed massage from “HOT HANDS” Scotty J, I wondered if life gets any better and found out-IT DOES!
The cherry on top of the ice cream sundae of life was Go-go dancer Willie. Willie has got to be the best thing to ever enter a gay bar! WARM - WONDERFUL AND WAGGING!
Between Willie and DJ John Rizzo, who was spinning on the dance floor, you could not walk upstairs. It was one of those nights when it’s last call before you know it. The night ended with Antonio raising a total of over $3,000.00. They also had HIV testing in the parking lot so there were many people who slept comfortable that night knowing that safe-sex does save lives. I was snuggling in with my sweet dreams until the phone started to ring..
“What Mass are you going to?”
“Are you bringing flowers or a balloon for mommy and daddy’s grave?”
“Did you hide the eggs?”
“Don’t hide them too high, Kelly is wearing a dress and the boys will see up her dress if she has to reach up.”
“Where are you coming over?”
“Did you get up yet?”
All this before 8am
I rolled out of bed into the shower

I do my Catholic tradition thing and go to church on Easter Sunday and I do my other Catholic tradition thing and leave during communion. This 90 year old man stops me and informs me that it doesn't count if you leave before the priest ends mass..."Be ashamed to have wasted an hour here and not have it count." Who makes up these rules?...I stayed-Catholic tradition of guilt trumps Catholic tradition of quick get-away.

Many years ago before most of you could hold a pencil, never-mind a cell phone, there were the greatest happiest group of people! The world called them “gay” because they were always smiling and having the time of their lives! They had boyfriends and lovers and jet-setted around the world…Then came AIDS
I was there when the New York Times article hit the papers and the fear of dying was first and fore most on everyone’s mind. You were afraid to love someone because you had no idea what they had, or who they slept with. So many of my friends were addicted to the life style we grew up with - celibacy was not an option and they paid with their lives. We had a President that was more concerned with space adventure than finding a cure. The NATIONAL NEWS reported that you could contact AIDS by touching. Every effeminine guy was thrown to the wolves and the "Straight acting" hid even further into their closets. It didn't matter what kind of person you were, just what kind of person you looked like. If you lost weight they accused you of having AIDS-people stayed away from you. I saw bartenders throw glasses into the garbage afraid that it was infected. People died alone because hospitals wouldn't let anyone near AIDS patients. As I type and look back I wonder, “Am I really the lucky one?” I survive with the memory of the way it was.
This week Antonio Cedeno is partnering up with Steve Sidewalk and Lxs Eventos and creating a fund raising event that will knock AIDS out of this world and it is about time!

My best friend (pictured)said it best, after finding out he was HIV+ he told me he felt relieved. I was puzzled until he told me why- “I don’t want to die, but I don’t want to live being afraid of dying.” All he wanted was someone to love him and it was that search that took his life. None of us should have to be afraid to make love to find love! Maybe I am lucky for knowing him.

I needed a Divine Resurrection

SATURDAY NIGHT
So while I spent a night in an ER with sick people, trying in vain to avoid contact with them, all the hot gay men in the WORLD were at Club Feathers finding true love and happiness! That is the story of my life! Borrowing a line from one of the greatest gay icons, a date to the first who can guess who I am referring to, “Let’s start at the very beginning…. “
Last night (FRIDAY) I was full of the fire that light many a hearts aflame. I was feeling the feeling and walking the walk. I had one of those bounces that only a man with confidence can pull off- or one with a lot of money! Anyway I had wanted to go out and see Tony Mona and experience the whole “BOY-Lesque”, which I hear is really a fun time. I was pumped and feeling a little achy. I figured it was from working out and was glad to hear that Scott J was going to be there giving those body rub downs and my body was crying for his fingers! I did what every gay guy does, laid down for a disco nap. Well, the” nap” ended up lasting 8 hours! I woke to not only being stuffy and congested, but in a pool of sweat!
I was so looking forward to seeing both Tony’s and sharing laughs and drinks with them and all I ended up doing was coughing and sweating and cursing out the little brats that I teach!
How many times do you have to tell a child to COVER THEIR MOUTHS!
This one kid was sick all week and was using all the tissues. His mother refused to buy any tissues for the classroom community center.
At the beginning of the year parents donate classroom items like tissues, paper towels, hand soap…etc.
I told him to tell his mother we were running out of tissues. She refused to send any in with him so I refused to open any new boxes. The kid sneezes and it’s dripping from his nose. “Mr. R what am I going to wipe my nose with?” he asked in a panic. “Use your sleeve.” I told him as I continued with the lesson. “That is disgusting! “ he cried…”So are the snots dripping from your nose.”…He brought in three boxes of tissues the next day. So I guess he is having the last laugh as I lay sick and missing out on the club parties.

So great and where am I---looking at the sick people in Harlem Hospital’s ER. I was actually quite surprised that there weren’t any gun shoot victims or rapes. Instead I get a homeless woman asking for my empty cup of coffee so she can pee in it…”Why don’t you just use the bathroom over there.” “Listen Fancy Man I’ll Pee where I want to!”
Note to self-Do NOT talk to homeless people.
How did I end up in Harlem you may be wondering, well…I had been promising a friend that I would take her out to dinner. I kept blowing her off and decided I couldn’t anymore. I thought if I forced myself to go out I would feel better. I got my friend’s apartment. “Sweetie you look like shit!” was how I was greeted…So glad I paid a toll and squeezed my car into a spot that a shopping cart could fit into. ..”Do you want to go to the hospital?” “Do you think I need to?” Her actions spoke louder than words- she was spraying Lysol all over everything I touched. So there we were in the ER.
Note to self- Do NOT visit a friend who is a hypochondria when you are feeling sick!
I took out my journal while my friend texted how her life sucked because she had to spend her Saturday night in an emergency room. I was writing about turning down a date with Brad Pitt because I think too much of Angelina Jolie. “Why are you writing those lies?” she barked! “Because if I have to get wheeled down for an operation I want the nosey nurse who reads this to tell the doctor I am someone important and not to mess up!” Then she gets this text and her face lights up! “You know you don’t really look sick anymore. I have to run. Can we do dinner next week? Bye love.” She brush kisses me and literally leaves me in this emergency room in Harlem!
Note to self- weed out my facebook friends.
I am sitting in the Emergency room wondering how I got where I was and wondering if I had time to catch Antonio’s fashion show when they homeless lady comes back and hands me my cup back. Not realizing what was in it. When I did I screamed and the piss went all over me…So much for going out!
Not to self- Don’t scream like a girl when holding a cup of piss!
On an up note I will be there for the event of the YEAR!!!!!

Blaque is the new black.

From the moment you walked down into Club Feathers you knew you were walking into something different? Sometimes different is good and sometimes it’s not. I wasn’t quite sure which different this one was…It was dark – my first thought, “They didn’t pay the bills!” then there was something creepy rubbing my neck- “Oh, great, Spider webs!”-not quite, it was black material. I am always apprehensive when it comes to Black, Blaque, Parties-no matter how you spell the word it means NO LIGHTS!
I can hardly see with the lights on; turning the lights off just means more black and blues on my fragile body and making out with guys I would never give a second look to and ending up going out to dinner even after seeing how ugly they are with the lights on because I don’t want them to think I am superficial even though I am, but I won’t admit that I am!
I digress
I was leaning towards bad different until I saw that Tone-Tone (Tony Albanese from “Cake Boss” http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/tony.albanese ) had baked a cake! Whenever I see Tone-Tone’s cake I know the night is going to be a success and tonight was no different. The cake was on display for all to see and as usual was a one of a kind master-piece. When Tone-Tone, Chris and Luis are together you know that you are going to have a memorable night and hopefully it won’t end with an over-weight man in a uniform asking to see your driver’s license.
I didn’t even get to the stairs when I bumped into Adam Barta, from LOGO (http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/adambartafans ) and Kim G from (RHONJ) http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/pages/Kim-Granatells/137381789618742), and recording star, Reina http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/reina.music ! Needless to say it took a while before I made it upstairs. Whenever you put Adam and Kim together they just keep you entertained for hours, okay, maybe not hours, but lots of long minutes. Antonio Cedeno, looking so freaking hot, was downstairs greeting everyone and smiling for pictures. I am always amazed how great he looks, and how friendly he is with his guests (as he refers to all that come to his events). Antonio introduced me to Scott J. the hot new masseuse he hired for Friday nights and special parties. Did I mention all he wears is a g-string while he performs his services?
I am telling you time goes by too quickly at Antonio’s parties. Everyone one was in such a great mood and sharing laughs with each other. It took me over an hour to make my way to say hi to Lady Tita in the DJ booth. Just as I was about to enter the DJ booth I was introduced to the one and only Gioia Bruno, the lead on the Exposé singles Let Me Be The One, What You Don't Know, and Tell Me Why. http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/profile.php?id=518751959 . She is the sweetest and most down to earth recording artist that I have ever met! We chatted and after 5 minutes I felt like I knew her all my life!
I finally got to say hi to DJ Lady Tita, http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/profile.php?id=782467529 who was playing as if she was possessed! She banged out one hot mix after another. There was not one dry arm pit in that whole place! Sweat was dripping off people like bbq sauce drips off ribs! It was a hot mess and everyone was in ecstasy!
This is the real life wonder woman, Lady Tita can spin hot sounds while carrying on two conversations, take request, text her messages and crotchet a sweater! She got the show line up and executed the play list as if she had the list all night!
The show line up was phenomenal!
I have to take a moment to compliment Antonio Cedeno on his hosting skills. He has grown so well as an MC and looks so comfortable on stage. He introduced the Hostess for the evening, Dallas DuBois who was hysterical. Her performance was magnificent (how she shook her head for so long is beyond my ability to understand) and was only over shadowed by her brilliance with the microphone. I love New Yorkers who come to New Jersey and act as if we are a different country. She played well with the audience and a good time was had by all!
The first recording artist to perform was Will Sheridan. He had the audience going along with him as he hypnotized the audience with his dynamic voice and smooth moves. WE WANT MORE! MORE! After the performances were done, Dallas returned to host the “Best in Black” contest: Guest judges Tone-Tone, Kim G, Adam Barta and Renia kept the audience entertained with juicy “reality show” gossip. The contest winner received two tickets to see Harvey Fierstein in “LaCage Aux Folles”. You really don’t know what you are missing until you experience an Antonio Cedeno Presents party! They are really turning into events.
After the show the judges went downstairs to cut the cake and have fun dishing it out--- cake that is…I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait until the next Antonio Cedeno Presents party! If I could just get a freaking date for one of them!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TITA

Turning forty


Whether you are celebrating a special occasion, or a friend is, or you just want to get out of the house- Club Feather’s is the place to be! What Antonio Cedeno has done to Feathers is just incredible! Last night was a 40th Birthday party for one of Club Feather’s own –DJ LADY TITA and there were crowds upon crowds there to help her celebrate the milestone. What makes Lady Tita in a league of her own is the smile that she shares willingly with all around! She is always there to lift your spirits whether it’s through her spinning or her warm words of encouragement.
Last night was no exception; the dance floor was on fire all night and only stopped for a moment when they saluted the LADY of the night. Veronica Conway started the night off with a song that spoke to all- FREE, “You’re free to do what you want to do.” I hear that you have that freedom when you turn forty; I cannot wait to see if that is true.
Scott, aka Veronica, gave up his night behind the bar to entertain the crowd and entertain he did! Veronica tore up the song and the dance floor with her usual flair! Then out came Ginger Vitis to continue the joy with the song “JOY”, shooting confetti out into the crowd! Ginger also had the bright idea of throwing lollipops out into the audience – there is no way to look attractive when you are trying to duck on-coming lollipops, BUT FUN TO WATCH!
So much fun and so many hot studs roaming the dance floor trying to seek me out and who should happen to start up a conversation with me? PINKIE! This African American chick comes and ask me for the time or a light or a tampon…Who could focus on her words when you are staring at this bright, flashing neon pink hair. Before I could say anything she just bounced away-literally BOUNCED! This guy turns to me and asked if I thought her hair was real, "I am sure she thinks it is!" Why do they find me? I want a nice guy with a smile that will melt my heart and all I get is the crazies, and the unemployed!
The cherry to the end of a perfect night was seeing my WILLIE dance! I LOVE Go-Go dancer WILLIE! He is so terrific! Antonio Cedeno has started to hire some strippers and last night he struck gold with Kafe! The guy has a body to die for and a smile that melts your heart! He teased and pleased the crowd! There was not one disappointed pair of pants in the crowd! He got EVERYONE’S blood pumping!I BIG shout out to the HOT new Bartender-Tom! Make sure you say hi and welcome him into the FEATHERS family!
I also noticed everyone wearing the new AC Production Tee-Shirts ($25.00) It will be the summer fashion! Order now!
Next Saturday is the Blaque Party! From what I hear it is going to be one HOT night! GREAT Guest and lots and lots of surprises! You know ANTONIO CEDENO DELIEVES!
